Hello! My name is Roberta and I make hats, fascinators, hatinators; classic to modern - I believe that ladies’ headwear should look as good as every other part of their outfits and I am on a mission to make it happen!
My designs are inspired by historical costume, the decorative arts and nature. Every piece is made by hand - with love, care and attention - in order to create artistic, individual but wearable headpieces.
As well as my ten happy years of experience in bespoke millinery, I have a degree in Textiles from Heriot Watt University. Based at the Scottish College of Textiles in scenic, rural Galashiels, this experience was the initial catalyst for my love of Scottish fabrics.
Of course, learning is a lifelong experience and, since graduation, I have been lucky enough to hone my craft under renowned milliners such as Nancy Paxton and Carol Maher, exhibiting my work at Trades House in Glasgow. Over the last few years, I’ve also had the opportunity to research Renfrewshire’s weaving industry and the famous Paisley pattern, incorporating these unique and authentic styles into many of my pieces.
I specialise in the wedding market - bridal headpieces and elegant designs for the mothers of the bride and groom - as well as headwear for occasions such as the Queen’s Garden Party, Ladies Day at the Races and Royal Ascot. My designs balance classic elegance with a modern approach to renewables. All pieces are made locally, ethically and sustainably and, where possible, I source my materials from Scotland’s many wonderful textile manufacturers.
My passion is in creating the special look that YOU want.
My bespoke service begins with a free personal consultation at the venue of your choice - you’re welcome to visit my home studio and show room or I can come to you. Throughout the process, you’ll receive updates and photographs of our work in progress until the day when your hat is finished and ready to wear.
I love working to a deadline so do get in touch if you have a last-minute request - I think we all know how difficult it can be to bring together that perfect outfit!
